Tools and resources for assessing organizations and networks, and identifying areas for improvement.
Assessments can be a great starting place for organizational and network improvement. A few things to keep in mind:
- It’s important to know up-front what your assessment objectives are, who will be involved, what level of time and resources the assessment process will require, and what will be done with the assessment when completed.
- Not all assessments work for all organizations or networks. When it comes to assessment, one size does not fit all!
- A two-hour self-assessment can have more or less capacity-building impact than a 9 month external assessment, depending on many factors. A greater investment of time and money does not necessarily equal more impact.
- There are many free assessment tools available. Others come with a cost, but can include tailored reports or consulting that can help guide a nonprofit in acting on assessment results.
